FIT vs GIT vs MICE: What to Send Your DMC for a Fast Quote

What FIT, GIT and MICE mean for travel agents, why group size changes the per-person price, and a checklist of details to send your DMC for an accurate quote.

Every request a DMC receives is one of three formats: FIT (individual travellers), GIT (groups) or MICE (company events). The format decides how the trip is priced. In our current Thailand offers, the same 4-night Pattaya and Bangkok trip costs USD 156 per person for 2 adults but USD 127 per person for 4 adults. Sending the right details up front is the fastest way to an accurate quote.

FIT: Free Independent Traveller

FIT packages are built around one party's dates and preferences. The client chooses the hotel, the number of nights and the activities. Pricing is per person and depends heavily on room sharing: two adults in one room pay less each than a single traveller, because the room rate is split.

Private services matter too. A private airport transfer costs about the same for two people as for four, so the per-person price of an FIT package drops as the party grows. That is exactly why our 4-adult Thailand deal is cheaper per head than the 2-adult deal, and still includes more.

GIT: Group Inclusive Tour

GIT packages are for groups that travel together on a fixed itinerary. Hotels, coaches and attractions offer group rates, so the per-person cost falls further. The trade-off is flexibility: the group checks in, tours and departs together, and changes after confirmation affect everyone.

For GIT, tell us early about food preferences, room splits (doubles, triples, singles) and any travellers who need extra help, such as elders or small children.

MICE: Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events

MICE trips are organised by companies: rewards trips for top sellers, dealer meets, conferences and offsites. On top of hotels and transfers, they usually need a venue, audio-visual equipment, a gala dinner, branded elements and a tight run-of-show. Lead times are longest, and the details carry the most weight because the client is a company, not a family.

Three habits that speed up every quote

  1. Send everything in one message. Half-complete requests lead to back-and-forth, and by the time details arrive the rates may have moved.
  2. Give a date range if you can. A few days either side can unlock better hotel rates.
  3. Tell us the client's priority: lowest price, hotel location or experiences. We build the quote around it instead of guessing.

Common mistakes that slow a quote down

Missing children's ages. Hotels and tours price children by age band, so "2 kids" cannot be quoted until we know how old they are. Unclear room sharing. Four adults might need two doubles, a quad or a triple plus a single, and each gives a different per-person price. Assuming private services. If your client expects a private boat or a private city tour, say so; otherwise we quote the shared basis that keeps the price competitive. Changing the group size after confirmation. Because private vehicles are split across the group, a smaller group usually means a higher per-person price.

How we reply

We send a per-person quotation with every inclusion listed line by line, the hotel named or "or similar", and the basis (SIC or PVT) stated for each service. You add your margin and sell. See our full list of services, or the Pattaya and Bangkok itinerary for a worked example.

Frequently asked questions

What does FIT mean in travel?

FIT stands for Free Independent Traveller: couples, families or small parties travelling on their own dates with a package built around their preferences.

What does GIT mean in travel?

GIT stands for Group Inclusive Tour: a larger group travelling together on a fixed itinerary, usually at group rates for hotels, coaches and attractions.

What is MICE travel?

MICE stands for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events. It covers company-organised trips that need venues, event services and group logistics as well as hotels and transfers.

Why does a bigger group pay less per person?

Hotels, coaches and private vehicles are priced per room or per vehicle. When more travellers share them, each person pays a smaller share.

What is the minimum information needed for a quote?

Destination, travel dates, number of adults and children with ages, room sharing and hotel category. Everything else improves accuracy.

Do you quote FIT, GIT and MICE for all destinations?

Yes, for our core destinations of Thailand, Dubai and Singapore. Saudi Arabia is handled as Hajj and Umrah packages, and other destinations are quoted on request.
